Practising solicitor · 15+ years in litigation & dispute resolution · mentors SQE candidates

Success isn't simply knowing the law. It's understanding what the SRA is actually testing.

Zafar Afsar is a practising solicitor with over 15 years' experience in litigation and dispute resolution. He has acted on complex, high-value disputes — including involvement in the landmark Supreme Court case Plevin v Paragon Personal Finance Ltd, one of the most significant consumer-finance cases of recent years.

Alongside private practice, he has spent the last several years working closely with aspiring solicitors — supervising and supporting students as they prepare for qualification, and reviewing countless assessments along the way. That is where his conviction comes from: success in the SQE is not simply about knowing the law, it is about understanding what the SRA is actually testing.

That philosophy is the foundation of LexThink. Zafar worked closely with the team building it — shaping how Dispute Resolution is taught here and the standard every explanation has to meet. He doesn't write each question himself, but he stands behind the bank and recommends it to anyone preparing for SQE1 Dispute Resolution. His aim is simple: to help future solicitors think like solicitors.
